Goethe Institut Boston
seven-channel video projection, lengths 5-15 min., 2020
The videos are based on found footage from the Amazon Robotics Challenge, a competition between different teams that develop robots for potential warehouse use. These robots which can execute simple picking and stowing tasks will eventually replace human warehouse workers. The drawings were created by tracking the movement of the tip of the robotic arms and subsequently connecting the tracking points. The starting point for this series were visits to Amazon Fulfilment Centers which are both fascinating and unsettling by their meticulous space-time optimization.
