Kameras

Two-channel video installation, 8:28 min., 2005

Two cameras take turns in moving while filming each other. One of the cameras is mounted to the floor, the other moves around. The mobile camera floats above the floor, moves back and forth, drives in circles, is drawn across the floor and falls on its side. It is exploring the space and circumnavigates the other camera. Finally it stops and the previously static camera initiates motion.
In both videos multiple individual frames are overlaid and shown at once thus the impression of “motion traces” is created. The motion traces compile into temporary translucent sculptures within space, visualizing the commonly unnoticed movement of a camera.
